Showband

History
In the year 1963 a band with drum section and bell-lyra's was founded. This was the very beginning of the current Concordia music association. Soon after 1969 the band would be extended with a twirl group. A brass division was added in 1975 and in 1979 a group with colorguards completed the showband. Nowadays Showband Concordia consists of about 35 members subdivided in four sections: brass, drum, twirl and colorguard.
Own identity
Showband Concordia distinguishes itself by using its own style in shows and by having a recognizable sound. Next to that, the subdivision of the showband in four different sections is rather unique, especially in the Netherlands. Not many showbands have a brass-, drum-, twirl- and colorguard section. Showband Concordia has participated in many contests, including the open dutch championships (ODSC) and the World Music Contest (WMC) in Kerkrade. Troughout the years Concordia won a total of four golden medals during the WMC both on show as on marching.
Worldwide
Showband Concordia has also built up an excellent reputation far beyond The Netherlands. Regular visits occur to countries in Europe like France, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and Poland. They even visited Israel in 2000 where they were invited to Kfar Saba during the Millenium Festival. In 2004 they were invited to Poland to join in the celebrations for Poland joining the European Union.
Practice makes perfect
During the weekly excercises members are challenged to give the best they have for the performances. Of course having fun with the group and team building are very important factors for Showband Concordia.
